Your typography tells a story before a customer reads a single word. Master the art of Google Fonts to create a professional, readable, and high-end look for your business.
Typography isn't just about "pretty letters"—it’s about brand personality. A Law Firm needs a different "voice" than a Yoga Studio. Because your Stride template is built on Google Sites, you have access to the entire Google Fonts library for free.
Here is how to navigate the world of fonts without making your site look like a ransom note.
Serif (The Traditionalist): Fonts with small "feet" at the ends of letters (e.g., Playfair Display). They feel trustworthy, established, and elegant.
Sans-Serif (The Modernist): Clean, geometric fonts without "feet" (e.g., Montserrat or Roboto). they feel modern, tech-forward, and easy to read on mobile.
Display/Script (The Artist): Decorative fonts. Great for one or two words, but terrible for long paragraphs.
The golden rule is Contrast. If your heading and your body text are too similar, it looks like a mistake.
Pro Pairing 1 (The Modern Pro): Montserrat (Bold) for headings + Open Sans for body.
Pro Pairing 2 (The Elegant Boutique): Playfair Display for headings + Lato for body.
Pro Pairing 3 (The Friendly Local): Raleway for headings + Roboto for body.
Open your site and click the Themes tab on the right sidebar.
Click the Edit (Pencil Icon) on your custom Stride theme.
Select Text.
Here you can change the font for Titles, Headings, and Body.
Click "More fonts" at the top of the list to search the thousands of options available in the Google library.
DO keep your body text at 14pt or higher for mobile readability.
DON’T use more than two different fonts on your entire site. It creates "visual noise."
DO use plenty of "White Space" around your text. It makes the fonts stand out.
By choosing a deliberate font pairing, you move away from the "default" look and create a site that feels unique to your brand's specific energy and industry.
